Joel Tarling was born in 1975 and grew up in Bermagui, a small fishing village on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. After age ten he moved to Sydney then Melbourne and finally settled in Sydney as a teenager. He currently resides in Redfern.

1993 Year 12 Art project selected for Art Express.

1994-1996 studied Fine Arts at Meadowbank TAFE.

1997 Perspecta " Fibro" contemporary Art exhibition at the Casula Powerhouse. Started working as a freelance illustrator for various bands and book publishers:

Frenzal Rhomb punk band (kaan kaant tshirt: front back)
• Mic Conway's National Junk Band contempory jug band
• Pluto Press, EPA's composting manual Down to Earth

2005 completed a diploma in graphic design at the Enmore Design Centre TAFE

2005 short listed for the student International Poster Exhibition in Chaumont, France.

2006 July Annandale Sketches at the Leichhardt Library in association with the Annadale Historical Society.

2006 November b+wx3 exhibition at Blank Space Gallery, Surry Hills

2007 September Greetings from APEC card through AvantCard

2007 November 2 ukeleles in Carol Ruff's Hula Dreams II exhibition at Gallery East.
