When I was in year 2, we had a school excursion to the local Bermagui library. An elderly Aboriginal lady told our class a story about Gulaga (Mount Dromedary)I don’t remember the extract details of the story but this is what I can recall.

“A spirit was in love with a beautiful woman named Gulaga… She fell into a deep sleep and transformed into a mountain… The spirit to show his love and devotion wove a beautiful white blanket to keep her comfortable and warm.” The elderly Aboriginal lady then pointed out the library window and said “You can see the blanket on Gulaga today” I was completely amazed it was too.

Every time I go back to Bermagui and there is a cloud covering Gulaga, I think of this story and the beautiful cloud woven blanket.
