Glow Worm Cycles – Logo re-design

Glow Worm Cycles – Logo re-design

When Ali at Glow Worm Bicycles, Marrickville asked if I’d re-design their logo, I felt very honoured. They are a great bike shop who have helped my little family many times with our Yuba cargo bike. It’s shops like Glow Worm Bicycles and Omafiets in Redfern, that have helped us be a car free household in Sydney.

Glow Worm Bicycles expertise has also been invaluable, with setting us up so our little girl can ride safely with us on our various bikes. Our daughter has been riding on our bikes since she was 2 years old and she is now 6 years old and she still loves the bike so much she sings as I ride 🙂

Logo design idea:
They originally had a grey and white vector logo, which seemed a little too corporate for such a friendly small business. Running with the friendly theme,  I hand drew the new logo with a felt tip pen and then coloured a scan using illustrator. I felt a warm hand made style with bright colours represented Glow Worm bicycles in a truer light, as the family friendly place that is part of the community and a place were people can feel comfortable to check out the idea of cycling as an alternative to getting around in the city without using a car.

I intentionally set out to create a logo which was organic and friendly to high light that Glow Worm isn’t a shop only for hardcore cyclists but for anyone interested in riding a bike.
